Our Story

Twenty years ago, we asked strangers for directions.

Then maps arrived. Easier, yes — but now we walk with our heads down, staring at screens. Running became the same. Load a route on your watch, follow the line, done.

We stopped talking to people.

But the best knowledge of any neighbourhood isn't on Google Maps. It's not in the top-rated lists. It's not on Instagram reels from influencers passing through.

It's with the people who live there.

The local who knows the quiet café that opens at 6am. The bakery that doesn't bother with reviews. The cut-through that isn't on any map.

And there's something about running a city at sunrise. Empty streets, golden light, your breath in the cold air. You notice things you'd never see from a bus or a taxi.

Running is exploding — and so is content creation by runners. But content doesn't have to be digital. It doesn't have to be YouTube videos or Instagram reels.

It can be real. A neighbourhood run you host. A route you share. The small café that no one else knows.

Digital content gets views. Real-life content creates friendships.

No wonder more and more creators are hosting meetups — bringing the audience into the real world.

I built Parugu because I was tired of running alone in new cities, following a blue line on my phone, missing everything real.

I wanted what maps can't give you — a local who knows the route, the rhythm, the best pastry stop at the end.

So I built it. One app. Runners hosting runners. Neighbourhoods, not tourist trails.

That's Parugu.

Parugu it.
